Marine Deck Hardware — Fairleads, Bollards, Chocks & Fittings
Classification-approved marine deck hardware: Panama fairleads, roller fairleads, bollards, mooring chocks, cleats, and deck fittings. Cast steel and fabricated steel options.
Sourcing Bollards, Fairleads and Chocks for a Newbuild or Refit?
Deck hardware may look simple, but specification errors — wrong SWL rating, wrong chock type for the mooring arrangement, wrong material grade — cause class survey rejections and costly rework. hicool supplies 14 types of marine deck hardware from CCS/BV-approved foundries: bollards, fairleads, Panama chocks, roller fairleads, closed chocks, cleats, and bitts — all manufactured in cast steel or forged steel to classification society rules.
Marine Deck Hardware — Cast & Forged, Class-Approved
Our deck hardware range covers the essential mooring and securing fittings required on every commercial vessel. All products are manufactured from cast steel (ZG230-450 / ZG270-500) or forged steel per classification society material specifications, with SWL ratings from 10 kN to 2,000 kN. Each item is proof-load tested and supplied with material certificates (EN 10204 Type 3.1) and class unit certificates.
Standard designs conform to GB/T, JIS, and ISO dimensional standards. Custom designs to owner’s or designer’s drawings are routinely manufactured — send us the GA drawing and we provide pricing within 48 hours. Surface treatment is marine-grade primer + topcoat (standard) or hot-dip galvanized (optional).
Typical customers include shipyards, ship repair yards, marine engineering companies, and vessel operators sourcing replacement fittings during drydock. We supply deck hardware packages for vessels from 500 DWT coastal craft to 300,000 DWT VLCCs.

Product Range
| Product | Type | SWL Range | Material | FOB Range (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bollards | Single / double / kidney | 50–2,000 kN | Cast steel | $80–$3,500 |
| Panama Chocks | Type A / B / C per ISO | 100–1,000 kN | Cast steel | $120–$2,500 |
| Roller Fairleads | Universal / 4-roller / pedestal | 100–800 kN | Cast + forged rollers | $200–$5,000 |
| Closed Chocks | Bulwark-mount / deck-mount | 50–500 kN | Cast steel | $80–$1,500 |
| Cleats | Horn / staghorn | 10–100 kN | Cast steel / forged | $50–$500 |
| Bitts | Single / double, welded base | 50–500 kN | Cast steel | $100–$2,000 |
Cast Steel vs Forged Steel — When Does It Matter?
| Feature | Cast Steel | Forged Steel |
|---|---|---|
| Complex Shapes | Excellent (chocks, Panama, bollards) | Limited to simpler forms |
| Mechanical Properties | Good (meets class minimums) | Superior (higher impact toughness) |
| Cost | Lower | 20–40% premium |
| NDT Requirements | UT/MT per class rules | Typically less NDT required |
| Best For | Most deck fittings | High-load rollers, critical items |
Rule of thumb: Cast steel is the industry standard for bollards, chocks, and fairlead bodies — it offers the best balance of cost and performance. Specify forged steel for roller shafts, high-SWL bitts, and any item where the class surveyor requires enhanced mechanical properties.
Common Applications
- Complete deck hardware packages for newbuild vessels (bollards + chocks + fairleads + bitts)
- Replacement fittings during drydock survey and maintenance
- Mooring system upgrades for vessels increasing rope size
- Offshore platform and FPSO mooring deck fittings
- Port and terminal bollards and mooring hardware
Recent Supply Example
A ship repair yard in the Philippines ordered a deck hardware replacement package for a 56,000 DWT bulk carrier during scheduled drydock: 8 × double bollards (200 kN), 4 × Panama chocks Type B (300 kN), 4 × roller fairleads (300 kN), and 12 × closed chocks (150 kN). All CCS-certified with material certificates. Delivered FOB Nantong within 35 days. Total project value: ~USD 28,000.

Deck Hardware Specification Guide
Identify from Mooring Arrangement
Your vessel's mooring arrangement drawing specifies the type, SWL, and position of every fairlead, bollard, and chock. Start here — not from a catalog.
Confirm SWL & Standard
Each item has a Safe Working Load tied to the mooring line MBL. Standards: ISO 13795 (bollards), ISO 13796 (fairleads). Class surveyor checks these at installation.
Surface Treatment
Hot-dip galvanized (standard for exposed deck). Painted (for interior or non-marine). Specify if you need bare steel for yard painting.
Bundle for Savings
Order all deck hardware as one package for volume pricing and single-shipment logistics. We handle mixed items (different types, sizes) in one PO.
