Marine Warping Capstans — Electric & Hydraulic, Class-Approved
Our capstan range covers pull forces from 10 kN to 300 kN, handling everything from small harbour craft line-handling to large vessel warping operations. Both vertical electric (AC motor with worm gear reducer) and hydraulic (low-speed high-torque motor) configurations are available. All units feature a profiled warping drum designed for consistent rope grip without crushing, and an automatic holding brake that engages on power loss.
Capstan drums are available in cast steel (standard) or stainless steel clad (optional for corrosive environments). Drive components are fully enclosed and sealed to marine IP56 standard. Control is via local push-button panel with optional bridge remote as standard on units above 50 kN.
Typical applications include mooring operations on cargo vessels, passenger ferries, tugs, offshore vessels, and naval/coast guard craft. We also supply capstans for dock-side and terminal mooring systems.

Define Pull Capacity
Warping operations: match to vessel displacement. Mooring: match to bollard pull or mooring line MBL. We help calculate if you provide vessel particulars.
Vertical or Horizontal
Vertical barrel: traditional, fits tight deck spaces. Horizontal drum: better for continuous line hauling. Most commercial vessels use vertical.
Drive Type

Classification & Speed
