DDF Series Hot-Dip Zinc Coolers — WKDL Corrosion-Resistant Evaporators
WKDL DDF Series hot-dip galvanized evaporators for corrosive environments. 14 models with zinc-coated casing and coils for seafood processing, chemical storage, and marine applications.
Standard Evaporators Corroding in Your Seafood or Chemical Cold Room?
In high-humidity, corrosive environments — seafood processing, brine storage, chemical cold rooms, coastal installations — standard painted-steel evaporators start rusting within months. Epoxy coatings peel, fan motors seize, and you face premature replacement costs. The WKDL DDF Series eliminates this problem with full hot-dip galvanized construction that withstands years of salt spray, brine mist, and ammonia-laden atmospheres.
WKDL DDF Series — Hot-Dip Galvanized Evaporators for Corrosive Environments
The DDF Series shares the proven copper tube / aluminium fin coil design of the DD floor-mount line but wraps everything in hot-dip galvanized steel casings, fan guards, drip trays, and mounting frames. Eight models cover 4.0 kW to 38.0 kW cooling capacity across the −18 °C to −35 °C operating range. The zinc coating (≥80 µm per ISO 1461) provides sacrificial corrosion protection that lasts 5–10× longer than paint or powder coat in aggressive atmospheres.
Fan motors are sealed to IP56 with stainless steel hardware. Defrost heaters use nickel-plated elements resistant to chloride attack. Drip trays are sloped and fully galvanized to prevent standing water — a common corrosion accelerator in seafood facilities. Optional stainless steel (SS304/SS316L) drip trays and fan guards are available for the most extreme environments.
The DDF line is the standard specification for seafood processing plants, marine vessel provision stores, salt/brine handling facilities, chemical cold storage, and coastal cold chain infrastructure throughout Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and West Africa.

DDF (Galvanized) vs DD (Standard) — Which Do You Need?
| Feature | DDF Galvanized | DD Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Casing | Hot-dip galvanized steel | Epoxy-coated galvanized steel |
| Corrosion Life | 10–15 years in corrosive environments | 2–4 years in corrosive environments |
| Motor Protection | IP56 | IP54 |
| Price Premium | +20–35% over DD | Base price |
| Best For | Seafood, brine, coastal, chemical | Standard frozen storage |
| Ammonia Compatible | Yes | No |
Rule of thumb: If your cold room handles seafood, brine, salt, chemicals, or is located within 5 km of the coast, specify DDF. The 20–35% price premium pays for itself within 2 years versus replacing corroded standard units. For clean, dry frozen-food warehouses, the DD standard line is sufficient.
Common Applications
- Seafood processing cold rooms — shrimp, fish, squid at −25 °C to −35 °C
- Brine tank areas and salt-handling freezer rooms
- Coastal cold chain infrastructure exposed to salt-laden air
- Marine vessel provision stores and onboard freezers
- Chemical cold storage for corrosive or reactive materials
- Ammonia-refrigerant systems where R717 compatibility is required
Recent Supply Example

When Do You Need Galvanized?
Assess Corrosion Risk
Saltwater/seafood: YES. Chemical vapors: YES. Daily pressure wash with chlorine: YES. Standard dry goods cold storage: NO — save money with standard DL/DD.
Check Fan Motor Rating
DDF uses IP65 sealed motors (wash-down rated). Standard DL uses IP54. If your cleaning protocol involves direct water spray on equipment, DDF is mandatory.
Consider Drain Corrosion
DDF includes SUS304 stainless drain connections — the most vulnerable corrosion point. Standard DL uses galvanized steel drains that corrode first in acidic environments.
Calculate Payback
DDF costs 15-20% more upfront. If standard units last <3 years in your environment, DDF pays for itself in Year 1. We provide a simple ROI calculator on request.
